Synopse
A village in the Brazilian Sertão region in the sights of Western killer tourists: Kleber Mendonça Filho’s third film made with Juliano Dornelles, mixes Western, horror and mystery elements and creates a thrilling social panorama between dystopia and hope. Strange things are happening in Bacurau: the remote village is suddenly no longer to be found on online maps, the water supply breaks down, people are murdered. It soon becomes clear that a group of foreigners are behind the attacks under the command of the German Michael (Udo Kier), who have been given the licence to kill by a corrupt local politician. But the village is not about to surrender. Led by the doctor Domingas (Sônia Braga), the locals close ranks and fight back.
