Synopse

This moving documentary series tells the story of Manuela Freitag, the longest-serving domina in Herbertstraße and her life between the gutter, dependence and her fight for autonomy. From a unique, female angle, she casts light on the sex trade over and above her own story: colleagues and friends from the Kiez and experts give authentic insights into the reality of the Hamburg red-light district. In doing so, the series asks some urgent questions: What circumstances leave a mark on our lives? What is fate? What do we make of it? And how does society deal with prostitution and the people behind it?

Regie

PETER DÖRFLER was born in Aschaffenburg and studied at the HfG Offenbach. His documentaries Der Panzerknacker (2006), Achterbahn (2009) and The Big Eden (2012) won numerous awards, including the German Film Critics’ Prize.
